Steel Lamp N˚2

2024, Stainless Steel

This piece explores irony through material language with their piece, Steel Lamp N˚2, by using an opaque and cold material to form a light that is soft and warm. The lamp was made by cutting and welding scraps of stainless steel, and comes together as an assemblage of fragments. The light is able to flow through the seams and gaps, which are warped and asymmetrical from the welding process. The light emitted by the lamp highlights both its structure and the irregularities of the metal, allowing the material to dictate the final form of the piece.
